Matthew P. York is a Vice-President at JAMS. He is responsible for all Northeast and Mid-Atlantic operations for the largest private provider of dispute resolution services in the world. Mr. York joined JAMS in 2005 and helped open the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Resolution Center. In 2012 he assumed responsibility for the flagship New York Resolution Center and shortly thereafter took over regional responsibility for the Boston and Philadelphia locations. Mr. York is responsible for operations, profit/loss, personnel, panel relations, panel recruitment and strategic development.
Mr. York is frequently requested to lecture on dispute resolution topics by various groups, bar associations, arbitral and academic institutions including the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Fordham University Law School, New York Law School, Columbia Law School, the Justice Marie L. Garibaldi American Inn of Court and the John C. Lifland American Inn of Court.
His professional affiliations include serving as Chair of the Health Care Committee for the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution, an Advisory Board Member of the Boston International Arbitration Council (BIAC), incoming Board Member of the International Mediation Institute (IMI), member of the New York Intellectual Property Association (NYIPLA), member of Arbitration Ireland, member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and former Board of Director for the La Salle University Alumni Board, Board Member of the Friends of La Salle Academy and member of Inroads, Inc. Prior to JAMS, Mr. York served the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania as Deputy Clerk – Pro Se in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and as a Supervisor of National Operations for Verizon Communications (formerly Bell Atlantic) in Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Mr. York has a B.A. in Communications from La Salle University, an M.P.A from the University of Pennsylvania with a Certificate in Politics and Certificates in Executive Leadership and Performance Leadership from the Cornell University Graduate School – SC Johnson College of Business and completed courses from the American Management Association in Advanced Executive Leadership and Strategic Leadership.
